  • What was your favorite moment from Stampex?
My best moment at Stampex was celebrating the 60th anniversary of the show. I felt honored to be able to co-ordinate the diamond anniversary of Stampex at it is quite an achievement both for The PTS as a society to be able to put on a show of such long-standing which is still very popular with many enthusiasts globally today. Creating the Smilers Sheets for the two shows that year was also a great experience as the two tied in to similar designs and I felt proud to have had such input on those highly collectable pieces which will remain in people’s collections for years to come.
  • What do you like about stamp collecting?
I always find it interesting talking to collectors and like to ask them how they got interested in their specific area of collecting. I assumed, perhaps wrongly, that most people started at the front of an empty stamp album and collected stamps throughout the album until that album was full. How wrong I was! There is an area of interest to suit everybody and that makes the hobby so unique to so many. I also really like the fact that it is something tangible and is also a very sociable activity, particularly when collectors can attend stamp exhibitions or fairs.
  • Do you collect stamps?
I must confess I do not. However, I do own my very own Penny Black which I proudly bought from PTS Member Bill Barrell at a Stampex show I was managing a few years ago. I bought that particular stamp as it had my initial ‘L’ on it. I had to buy an ‘LL’ Penny Black as Penny Blacks were not issued with ‘W’s on them so I could not have bought an ‘LW’ stamp.
  • Tell us something we don’t  know about you?
I have recently returned to work after taking a year off after having my little girl, Mia. Mia was born during the week of Spring Stampex in 2018. Stamps are very much in my blood since my parents are Rick and Brigitte Warren, who used to run Apex Auctions (and I also worked for them for a time) so it is only natural that Mia is now also caught up in this world! I look forward to bringing Mia to Stampex one day.
