The Postal Museum will be celebrating 50 years since the opening of the National Postal Museum by HM The Queen.
This time around to mark 50 years since the opening of the National Postal Museum by HM The Queen, and to celebrate the new Postal Museum, opened in 2017 by The Queen’s daughter Princess Anne we shall be showcasing some iconic pieces from the collection. To complement the George V display elsewhere in Stampex we shall be showing the original die and roller used to produce the £1 Seahorse as well as a sheet overprinted CANCELLED and a 10s experimental plate from 1929 and black proof from it, not shown in public before.
To support this and to mark the 50th anniversary Senior Curator, Philately at The Postal Museum Douglas Muir will be giving a talk at the Museum on the history of the National Postal Museum to mark the occasion. More details of this will be made available closer to the event.
