Each month we are sharing a little bit about the people who are behind Stampex. This month we asked Brian Bayford of BB Stamps to tell us more about himself. What's your role for Stampex International ?
I work alongside the committee to try and make the show as successful as possible. We are always throwing in new ideas and have worked hard over the last few years. How did you get into Philately ? I have been around it since 1969, ( I was 3 years old ! ), my Father and Uncle ran a stamp and coin shop in Neasden ( London ) until the North Circular road was built through it and the shop closed. My Father went into the coins side and my Uncle took on the stamps. In 1977 I convinced my Father to get all the boxes of FDC's etc out of the bank and I just started to gradually get interested from then. I started out part time dealing in 1986, eventually going full time in 1988. Favourite thing about dealing? I buy super collections and I can spend hours looking through them. Its the way each collector has written them up that is so interesting. Tell us what you like about Stampex International Stampex is the Number One show that I attend by a Country Mile, it never ceases to amaze me how many new customers we meet every time even after all these years of attending. I have been attending for over 25 years and haven't missed a single one yet - that's around 50 shows!
